Featuring a soundtrack that blends symphonic orchestral music with hip-hop, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Live in Concert pairs a screening of the Academy Award®-winning animated film with live musicians and turntables featuring a DJ scratcher live on stage. Emmy® winner Daniel Pemberton composed a sprawling score of boundary-pushing original music that is complimented with song contributions by Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Jaden Smith, and Nicki Minaj. The hip-hop based score results in a sonic universe that is woven throughout the fabric of the film, supporting its themes of resilience and universal heroism.

ABOUT THE FILM

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask. A superhero classic for a new generation, Miles is an Afro-Latinx teen who is bitten by a radioactive spider in the subway and gains mysterious powers. Joined by spider-heroes from parallel universes, Miles must master his new powers to save his city from a villain who could destroy it all.

THE GRINCH broke box office records for two consecutive years on Broadway during its holiday engagements at the St. James and Hilton theatres in New York. Since then, more than 2.1 million theatre-goers across America have been delighted by this heart-warming holiday musical, which The New York Times praised as “100 times better than any bedtime story” and the Gannett papers hailed as “A genius of a show! A total delight for both kids and adults.”

Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical features the hit songs “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” (written by Albert Hague and Dr. Seuss) from the original animated series. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets (John Lee Beatty) and costumes (Robert Morgan) inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, while the Music and Book of Mel Marvin and Timothy Mason breathe new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas. The 2018 production is directed by Matt August and choreographed by Bob Richard based on the original choreography by John DeLuca and originally created by 3-time Tony Award® winning director, Jack O’Brien.

Please note that Broadway San Jose admits guests aged 5 and up. All guests entering the theater, regardless of age, must have a ticket.

Avatar: The Last Airbender In Concert presents an live orchestral rendition of the series’ iconic soundtrack, paired with a nearly two-hour special recap of the animated series’ three seasons displayed on a full-size cinema screen.  The projection will feature the original dialogue and sound effects without any pre-recorded music, allowing the live orchestra to perform the legendary score live and in perfect sync with the show scenes. The result? A truly immersive and grandiose concert experience that breathes new life into Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Just as “Avatar: The Last Airbender” masterfully blends Chinese culture with anime and American cartoon styles, an orchestra especially handpicked for this event will harmoniously combine Eastern and Western musical traditions – a symphonic fusion that faithfully reflects the signature sound of the Avatar saga. Taiko drums and erhus will share the spotlight with violins and clarinets, while the series’ fan-favorite scenes are presented in chronological order on the film screen, breathing life into Aang’s liberating quest in an epic and authentic way.

The creative mastermind behind the show’s original music, award-winning composer Jeremy Zuckerman, has poured his heart and exceptional talent into reimagining and expanding the show’s soundtrack specially for this event. Through the creative collaboration with Jeff Adams (the show’s original editor) and under the artistic guidance of the show’s creators, Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, this spectacular production not only magnifies the essence of the series, but also marks a groundbreaking moment – the very first opportunity for the audience to immerse themselves in the captivating world of Avatar: The Last Airbender through a live experience.
